Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB) [Included in Price]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7400 (2.16GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB) [add $175 or $5/month1]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7600 (2.33GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB) [add $425 or $13/month1] Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7600G (2.33GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB) [add $700 or $21/month1]
main difference I'm seeing is the GHz's of them all, but I don't really know how much of a difference one will make over another. I've been looking to get a new laptop (looking at a Dell XPS M1710) and I wanna know what you guys think on that. Is the extra money worth any of those, and if so which ones?

Ummm...why are u going after a laptop? For the money that you are spending on that Dell I could almost completely build two "super" computers that would cook the Dell...

looking for a laptop for going to school for game development. It's rather hard to lug around a desktop to class

If you are designing games, you should probably (as much as I hate them) look into getting a Mac

Mac's are the devil...but they are also where the design power is...for the most part. It is possible to do with a PC what you can do with a Mac (THIS IS ONLY WHEN COMING TO DESIGNING THAT REQUIRES GRAPHICS, HEAVY CODING, ETC.) but the cost requirements are quite a bit for the PC to handle shit correctly...I know this because I just built a $4000 PC for graphic design...VS having a Mac that would have only cost me about $2500

and honestly, it doesn't have to be a dell. they're just the only ones that I know of that aren't absolute junk like gateway and emachines.

Don't get me wrong, Dell is junk also. It's just not as much of a piece of junk as said others. But it's still a piece of junk.

So explain why you're putting down that kind of money for a piece of junk.

My laptop is a Dell and I've been very pleased with its performance. I bought it in April 2006. I got a great deal on it since its was just before Dell made dual core processors standard in their laptops. I don't use it for gaming, but I have played some games on it and the performance is good. The laptops with the processors you posted Poke all look fine with good prices.

my dad had to deal with their tech support when getting new computers for the bookstore he runs. I'm hoping the guy we had was a poor example, but he was an absolute pain in the neck to deal with.

I ordered my laptop from Dell on their website, never spoke with a person. I did endure calls a year later to add another year to the warranty for a ridiculous price. I refused and after April the calls stopped.
