I liked it. In fact, disregarding emotional attachment to the original trilogy, it is my favorite of the seven. There are a few of the usual cinematic coincidences and typical bad guy incompetence, and yes, it is a sort of dirty retelling of the original trilogy, but Adam Driver portrays exactly the kind of tortured soul that Hayden was unable to muster in the prequels (oh, what could have been...) and I thought the tension between Han and Leia was palpable. They clearly yearned for each other while at the same time felt an insurmountable barrier.
I've read some other quibbles, such as R2D2 coming to life "for no apparent reason other than to move the plot along", but the careful observer will notice that it happened only when Rey stepped onto the base, so that was clearly the trigger he was programmed to respond to. I haven't been really excited about movies in a long time, so it's nice to have something that makes me hungry for more.

I really enjoyed it as well. Looking forward to seeing it a second time, maybe this week or next week. I loved the mysteries and questions created about the new story and characters; Rey's back story, who is Snoke, Kylo's true motivations, and is Luke in hiding or guarding something the dark side must never find. Its a complete movie that sets up the next two films. Looking forward to Rogue One next December.

Well, they kinda screwed that whole thing up. Ah, well. At least we have The Mandalorian. XD
